On Jan9th Jason Ferguson and I were able to get some of our MetalShaping friends together at his Shop ,Texas Bike Works in Granbury Tx . We had be throwing this idea around for a few weeks and felt it was time to get everyone we knew that was interested to join us . Jason's Shop is a good location near the Metroplex area where many of us are from .
The project was a Motorcycle Gas Tank .This will be a Ongoing project which started as a Buck building session and will continue with Patterns ,Sheet metal forming ,Welding and finishing .
We were able to finish Buck and start working some panels .
From my feedback everyone was pleased with results ,so we'll set a date for next "GATHERING" .
This is open to anyone who would like to join us ,Just PM me and I'll get you on the Email list to keep you informed .
I'm going to let the pictures do the talking .
Take care , GordonB

    Subject:

    Metalshapers Gathering in Granbury Texas

    Message:

There will be an informal Gathering of those that are interested in metal shaping in Granbury Texas on March 13th. We will continue working on the motorcycle tank that was started in January, some work/instruction on the e-wheel, your small project if you have one and just some good old armchair sharing of metal shaping information.

Our host will be at Jason Ferguson’s shop/Texas Bike Works. The address is 1208 Fall Creek Granbury Tex 76049. For a map showing this location see: http://texasbikeworks.com/googlemap.htm

For more information you may contact Gordon (Don) Bartlett at stingshp@taylortel.net

Since the Gathering is free, we will be contributing $20 each to offset Jason’s expenses for lunch, drinks, donuts/munchies, Ox/Act. gasses, electricity, etc.

Besides your “small project”, please remember to bring your safety gear for hearing, eyes and hands, etc.

Remember! This Gathering is for learning and having mucho fun!

    Gordon B

The Gathering on March 13th was excellent . We had 18 headcount and lots of new people interested in working Metal . We got started about 9:00 with a quick outline on working Tear Drop Blisters which Pat Groover supplied to the Big Country Airfest several years ago. At which point we let everybody cut loose on Projects and trying new tools That Jason had in his shop . We continued the gas tank Build from first session Darren McCarley ,John Varnell and Jimmy Grothe got 2 sides together while I Mangeled the Top Panel {Now Trash} .
We had an Impromtto Aluminum annealing Demo by Tim Young of Irrational Metalworks .
The hammering was deafening after a while had some of us heading outside for Quiet Conversations . Pizza lunch midday then more working metal .
I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I hope to see you at our next Gathering . We'll announce it in a couple of weeks after Jason and I look over our schedules.
Anybody is welcome to join us ,contact me and I'll add you to our mailing list so your informed --stingshp@taylortel.net
    Picture time.
    Thanks, GordonB
